"In Section 25 of Rock Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa is a three quarter acre plot of ground known as the West Westfield Cemetery. We find warranty deeds for this land changing hands beginning in 1857 and always there were these words in the transfer of land, 'except the following reservation for a graveyard.' Then the legal description would be given. The cemetery is not maintained and is in poor condition. It is poorly fenced, there is no sign [when this article was compiled] and the stones are only fair. First burial in this place was Elsy Fisher in 1857. In this ground we find the following stones:
