Obituary

Horace Andrew Trimble, son of William E and Sarah Fletter Trimble, was born in Jasper County, Iowa November 17, 1884 and died at his home in Mitchellville, Iowa January 1, 1930 at the age of forty-five years. His boyhood days were spent on the farm in Jasper Co, near Newton with the exception of one year when the family resided in Vernon County, Missouri.

He was united in marriage with Anna Lee Walker, August 12th, 1903, and to this union were born a son and daughter, Vernon Andrew Trimble and Beulah Blanche.

Mr. Trimble came to this community in 1912 and since 1916 has been in business in Mitchellville, having recently purchased an additional store in altoona.

He was a member of Mitchellville Lodge 363 I.O.O.F. also of Elm Camp 121, M.W.A.

He was born and reared in a Christian home, was accustomed from youth to attend Sunday School and church, and united with the Congregational church in 1920.

Andrew Trimble was a man of firm convictions, not only in religion but also in politics and in business life. To these convictions he was always true, though ir meant sacrifice and personal loss.

In business life he was a man of his word, commanding the respect of all with whom he dealt. Beginning with limited resources, he has attained in a comparatively few years a large measure of success.

While for months he was aware of the seriousness of the physical trouble which finally caused his death, yet he was uniformly optimistic and cheerful.

Though in the recent days there was severe suffering, he was always patient. Such cheerfulness and courage must be attributed largely to a firm religious faith, that whatever the future held God knows best and all is well.

He leaves to mourn his loss the wife, Mrs Anna Trimble, the son, Mr. Vernon Trimble of Des Moines, the daughter Miss Beulah Trimble of Mitchellville, two brothers Mr. Charles E Trimble of Newton, and Mr. Fred A. Trimble of Des Moines. Besides many other relatives and hosts of friends.

There is a calm for those who weep,
A rest for weary pilgrims found
And while the mouldering ashes sleep low in the ground,
the soul of origin divine,
God's glorious image freed from clay, in Heaven's eternal sphere shall shine
A star a day

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church Saturday afternoon, January 4, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor the Rev. A. E. George, assisted by the Rev. M. Dwight Walker. Interment was in the Mitchellville Cemetery. ~ Provided by direct descendent Deb Marchington.
