Laura Jane (Reed) Scott
Born: October 17, 1849 in New Castle, Henry Co., Indiana SCOTT -- At the home of her mother, Mrs. Sarah Reed in this city, March 26, 1884, Mrs. Larua J. Scott, wife of Wm. B. Scott. Mrs. Scott was born in New Castle, Indiana, October 17th, 1849, and in 1855 came with her parents to Iowa, locating near Newton. In 1877 she married Wm. B. Scott, and in 1881 went with him to their farm in Polk Co., Iowa. Her health failing they came to Newton some two months ago, but the struggle was soon over. Death for her had no terrors, as she had long since committed her soul's eternal interest to Jesus. She calmly awaited the summons to exchange the cross for the crown. She leaves a husband and three little children to mourn her loss, also a mother, three sisters and large circle of friends. ~ The Journal, Newton, Iowa, April 2, 1884. __________Burial of Laura ScottThe remains of Mrs. Laura Scott were taken to Metz on the train Friday afternoon, and were interred in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.
