Biographical Data

Those left to honor Roger's memory are his wife, Penny of Newton; two daughters, Tracy Rasmussen (Jimmy Fane) of Newton, and Kerry (Jason) Heryford of Newton; his granddaughter, Rylee Heryford; two brothers, Ed (Caroline) Rasmussen of Newton, and Les Rasmussen of Newton; sister, Diana (Irv) Carlson of Ames; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, Vernon and Lucille (Hann) Rasmussen; and niece, Carol Ann Rasmussen.

Roger served his country in the U. S. Army from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War.

Roger was a graduate of Newton High School in 1961.

Roger enjoyed mote than anything spending time with his family, especially the time spent with his granddaughter, Rylee. He spent many years enjoying mushroom hunting, camping, motorcycle riding, fishing, and hunting.

MEMORIALS to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.

Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the funeral home.

Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.
