Obituary of Dale Langerak

Dale D. Langerak, 67, of the 100 block of 15th Street Southeast, Altoona, died of a heart ailment Sunday at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Newton.

Mr. Langerak was born in Pella and had lived in Altoona many years. He was a retired over-the-road truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 147.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four daughters, Debra Washington of Omaha and Connie Langerak, Makayla Langerak and Megan Langerak, all of Altoona; two sons, Steven and Michael, both of Altoona; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston. ~ Des Moines Register, December 5, 2001

Barbara Alice Langerak Of Altoona, Iowa

Barbara Langerak, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. She was born the daughter of Leonard and Mildred Mallory on November 26, 1934 in Colfax, Iowa.

Barbara and Dale were married in 1953. She worked at Bidwell where she would pass out presents to the kids. She also drove semi-trucks with her husband, Dale. Some of her hobbies and interests included jewelry art, cooking, and helping her friends and neighbors. Barbara had a great sense of humor she was known for being quick witted and overall fun to be around!

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Debbie (Dane) Washington, Steve (Brenda) Langerak, and Connie Langerak; grandchildren, Shawnda (Kevin) Hooker, MaKayla Langerak, Megan Langerak, and Chance Hill; great-grandchildren, Vanessa Hooker, Dominic Hooker, Jaideyn Hooker, Kelly Langerak, Karlito Langerak, Rico Johnson, and Harlee Jackson; as well as siblings, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale; parents; grandmother Nondes Thompson; and brothers.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, also at the funeral home followed by burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Metz, Iowa.
