Paralie (Meade) Gist
Born: March 6, 1872 at Pleasantville, Mrs. Paralie Gist of Toland Died Saturday MorningMrs. Paralie Gist, 82 of Toland, passed away Saturday morning at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge following an operation. Funeral services will be held at the Bogged funeral home and at 10 o'clock this morning (Tuesday) at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Sugar Grove church at Metz. The Rev. Warren L. Green, pastor of the Fifth Avenue Baptist church of Humbolt, will officiate at both services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove church cemetery. Mrs. Gist was born March 6, 1872, at Pleasantville, to Mr. and Mrs. Meade. She was baptized into the Christian church as a girl. She was married February 21, 1892, to George W. Gist, who preceded her in death. She had lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Cupp, in Toland for the last four years, coming to Toland from Gilmore City. Mrs. Gist's pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include the following four sons, Harry of Lovilla, Giles of Des Moines, George of Havelock and Kenneth of Bancroft; three daughters, Mrs. John Dahl and Mrs. Dale Cupp of Toland, and Mrs. Walter Saathoff of Colfax; three step children, Roy of Des Moines, Charles of San Fernando, Calif., and Mrs. Don Hunker of California; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Giles Meade of Mezterce, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.
