Ronald D. Danley passed away Saturday morning, Sept 22, 2018, at his home in Newton.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be at the funeral home an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove (Metz) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Dean's Family.
R. Dean Danley, 89, the son of Carl Albert and Ila Lura (Anthony) Danley, was born June 3, 1929, in Newton. He was a high school graduate and had served his country with the U.S. Army and U.S. Airforce, during World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars, 1946 until 1967. He also attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and University of Iowa, College of Engineering and Medicine.
On Oct. 6, 1956, Dean was united in marriage to Patricia Anita Townsend in Southwold, Suffolk, England. He was employed by the U.S. Army and U.S. Airforce, with 21 years active duty. Dean was an associate member of 87th and 512th Fighter Squadrons and 79th Fighter Bomber Squadron. He also worked for the Maytag Company, Parsons Company, Newton Foundry, served three years as a Jasper County Deputy Sheriff, two years as Chief o f Police in Colfax and worked at Fisher Controls International in Marshalltown, retiring in 1992. He and Pat attended Community Heights Alliance Church. He was a Life Membe4r of the local V.F.W. and a retired member of the UAW Local #893 in Marshalltown.
Dean is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia; his daughter, Linda Marie Lynam; his grandchildren, Shane, Toby and Summer; step brothers, Dennis Danley and Randy Danley; nieces and nephews; and many good family and friends.
