Dena (Baty) Couch
Born: August 6, 1939 at Metz, Jasper Co., Iowa Dena R. Couch, 65, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at her home in Newton.Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Newton, with Lynne Shunk of London, Ohio, officiating. Burial will be at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Beulah Heights Bible College or to the Running Strong For American Indian Youth and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the morning of the service. The daughter of LeRoy N. and Lola R. Hitchler Baty, she was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Metz. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County, living in Metz and Newton. She was united in marriage to Alfred B. Couch Jr. on Jan. 21, 1960, in South San Gabriel, Calif. She was a homemaker and enjoyed all sports, particularly football and NASCAR. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. Survivors include her husband of Newton; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Susanne Couch of Stockbridge, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Thomas De Young of Pella; six grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carol Baty of Phoenix, Ariz., and John and Sharon Baty of Hageman, Ala.; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Immell of Newton, Winona and Warren Clark of Newton, Lorraine and Max Specht of Lompoc, Calif., Faith Specht of Lamar, Colo., and Junella and Lynn Shunk of London, Ohio.
