Olive M. Callison Dies at Hospital;
Services Tuesday

Mrs. Roy (Olive M.) Callison, 80, 424 1st St. N., died today at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of First Christian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be closed at 1 p.m. Tuesday and not reopened.

Surviving are her widower, Roy; a step-son, Russell Callison, Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Hazel) Webb, Curlew; two step daughters, Mrs. Deloris Mesch, Citrus Heights, Calif., and Mrs. Barbara Britt, San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Callison was a member of the Christian Church.

The daughter of Anson and Eunice Tight, she was born at St. Anthony Jan. 27, 1889.

She was married Aug. 11, 1950, at First Christian Church, Newton.

Obituary - Mrs. Roy Callison

Mrs. Roy Callison, 46, who has been ill at her home at 204 East Fifth street South for the past four weeks, died at midnight last Thursday.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Morgan Funeral home with interment in the Sugar Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Callison had been a lifelong resident of Jasper county except for seven years when she lived in Des Moines.

Daughter of H. I. and Amanda Bell Sanderson Alfree, she was born Nov. 14, 1893, in Jasper county and attended the Sugar Grove school. She was married to Roy Callison in Newton on May 3, 1913. At first they made their home in Newton, later moving to Des Moines. They returned about 13 years ago.

Surviving relatives are her husband and four children Russell, Mrs. Donald Weiser and Mrs. Earl Ellsworth all of Newton and Mrs. Raymond Mesch of Sabula, Ia. Also her father of Newton, a brother, James Allfree of Colfax and three sisters, Mrs. Welcome Wyatt and Mrs. Vera Lundberg of Newton and Mrs. David Lundberg of Alcester, S. Roy Callison Dies Thursday
Services Set

Roy Callison, 84, 424 First St. N., lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday evening at Embassy Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.

Survivors are a son, Russell James of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Delores Mesch of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Mrs. Barbara Britt of San Jose, Calif.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Hazel Webb of Curlew; a step granddaughter, Donna Webb of Curlew; seven grandchildren, including Roger Callison of Des Moines and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Otto Callison of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Allfree Callison in 1940; his second wife, Olive Tight Callison April 5, 1969; a daughter, Lois, a grandson; a brother; and a sister.

Mr. Callison, who originally farmed in the Metz community had been employed by the Maytag Co. for approximately 20 years before being employed by the City of Newton street department.

The son of Claiborn and Betty Carrier Callison, he was born May 3, 1886 in the Metz community. ~ The Newton Daily News, January 22, 1971
