Glen C. BruceFuneral services for Glenn C. Bruce, 93, of 200 E. 23rd St. S. will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reese Chapel in Newton. The Rev. Jerry Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Bruce died Sunday morning [March 13, 1994] at Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton. Survivors are a son, Merlyn of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Avonne Lamb of Newton; a brother, Ron Bruce of rural Newton; a sister Erma Allen of Des Moines; three grandchilfen; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mozelle, in 1986; and a brother, Earl. Mr. Bruce, who had lived in Newton since he was a child, worked for Maytag, the City of Newton and retired from Newton Foundry in 1966. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Elks Lodge. The son of Charles C. and Alice Huff Bruce, he was born Nov. 23, 1900 at Prairie City. He attended Newton schools and graduated from Newton High School [1920]. He was married to Mozelle Marshall Sept. 5, 1923 in Newton. ~ Newton Daily News, March 14, 1994. |
