Perin Cemetery

Clear Creek Township

T81 R21 S24 SW 1/4

"This cemetery is also sometimes called Hoy Cemetery, because of its location on Hoy Hill. Research on this cemetery has not been documentd, but conclusions have been drawn from interviews with various people who remember the graves being in this location. In about 1920 the graves, probably two maybe three, were located on the then Nelt Bucklin farm. Talks with Elizabeth Bucklin Dee and Mary Bucklin Stubbe verify they were there at that time. They both remember playing around a fenced in area that had a couple of little white stones among the weeds and brush. Their father farmed around the fence and they recollect him telling them that Jim Perin came with some men and moved the graves. The fence and brush was removed and then Nelt farmed the whole area. Other folk tales say the graves were moved to Bethel Cemetery.

An interview with Ross Beardmore who was born and raised in this area verifies there was a small cemetery in this location.

Perin, Lemuel     1820-30 Aug 1853     Son of ___ Perin & Sally

Perin, Sally     1801-30 Mar 1860

Since Lemuel Perin died in 1853 and there was no established cemetery in the area we assume one of these graves might have been his. Sally Perin, mother of Lemuel, died March of 1860 and may have been buried on the Perin farm also. Lemuel and Sally are buried side by side at Bethel cemetery and we assume these might be the graves that were moved in the early 1920's from the farm location."
