"Green cemetery was located in section 11 of Hickory Grove Township. It was situated northwest of Newburg. J. A. and Louisa J. Richardson conveyed approximately one and one half acres to Hickory Grove Township by deed dated 4 Sep 1868, to be used as burial grounds. It was active during the mid to late 1800's, but was later abandoned as such and the plot reconveyed to the owner of the adjoining land.
In June 1984 Verna Burroughs who lived close to the abandoned cemetery declared the following to be true. 'All known burials wer removed from the cemetery and taken to othe Gilman, Iowa Cemetery.'"
