of Victor, and 4 miles south on the north side of the Hy# 46
History
At one time there was a Zion Church, now gone, about a mile
east; Atlas of 1874 p. 39- cemetery not listed but land owned
by Chas. Smith-no church either; within a few miles are three
schools - # 2-5-6-.
Atlas 1900 p. 17; Cemetery is shown south east corner of Section
on the Charles Smith farm; East ½ mile is the Zion Church, another
½ mile is the schoolhouse. The church and school on the Robert
Brown farm. 1915 Atlas p. 21; This on the minnie Mohr land, in
the edge of the SE part of Section 3; Down the road east is the
Zion Church, then a little further the school. History Vol. I
page 219 of 1915 Co. History, mentions that there are four cem-
eteries in Lincoln Township -St. Johns-German Methodist Epis-
copal-Schmidt and Longstreths.
The interesting part of this history for the cemetery is the big
change that the trustees made in up-dating it, In July 1960 when
I copied, I found it in terrible condition; Day lillies, had
taken over various spots, part of it was mowed. Then it was fixed
up, mowed, cleaned stones; Several had replaced stones, some had
new foundations. The Schmidts seem to have been first families
buried here -early in the 1870s,
Condition
Well kept, clean , and neat - all re-landscaped- stones reset-
Even those of the earliest date,
Remarks;
What could I add to an old cemetery that managed to get updated.
