Entry for September 30, 1878 states that the family has taken in a Daniel Walter Nash, he writes in the journal that he will be fifteen on November 14th. and plans to be with the Crowhurst family until he is 21.

The entry for April 8, 1879 states that Daniel’s mother had come and taken him back East with her, stating that the work was too hard.
