"De Witt, Jan. 4 -- The company of children that were to be here Thursday arrived at 9:30 by the way of Delmar. There were ten in the party. They were accompanied by Mr. Clark and Miss Hill and were a bright and intelligent lot of little ones, ages ranging from 16 years to 18 months. They found homes with the following parties:

George and Jesse Reynolds, aged 4 and 5 years, taken by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beth of south of Grand Mound.

Elsie Pape, 7 years, taken by S. W. Smith, Clinton.
Harry Pape, 11 1/2 years, taken by Wm. E. Flathers, Welton.

Alpha Hill, 5 years, taken by George Henderson, three miles south of De Witt.

Jennie McIntosh, 16 years, goes to Missouri.

James Willis, 4 years, taken by Chas. Petersen north of town.

Floyd Townsend, 3 years, taken by Albert Haney of this city.

   

There are three that are not yet placed -- Kenneth Swayz, 18 months; Fred Hayden, 5 years and Ira Shengo, 6 1/2 years. Mr. Clark expects to stay in this city for a few days and hopes to find homes for the last three. he can be found at Sheldon's boarding house."

 

Madonna Harms states that Ira Shengo was taken in by W.F. Harper in New Sharon,
