JOHN ELSWORTH WEIGHT - DIED SUDDENLY AT HOME.
John Elsworth Weight, 73, of Bartlett passed away at his home sometime during the night, last Friday. His body being discovered by his housekeeper when she went to awaken him at 8 o'clock Saturday morning.
He had been in Sidney Friday forenoon and seemed in his usual health, which had been failing somewhat during the last few months. He ate a good supper and returned at his usual hour,
about 9:30, his death was discovered by his housekeeper, Esse Clapper, the next morning. He had been dead for several hours when Coroner Ralph Lovelady arrived, and death was pronounced as
being from natural causes.
Deceased was born in Pennsylvania May 24,1867 (sic), and was bought to Sidney by his family. His father ran the first grist mill in this section for years. He married Sarah C. Dew and moved to
the Rockport,MO., neighborhood. The last 20 years he lived in and around Bartlett.
He is survived by ten children. they are Edward of St. Joseph, Mo., Winfield of Mallott, Wash., Henry of Thurman; John of Plattsburg,Nebr.; Mrs. Alva Campbell of Thurman; Arthur of Thurman;
Earl of McPaul; Mrs.Clarence Forney of Bartlett; Mrs. John Forney of Napa, Calif.; and Orval.
Funeral services were held at King Church, near his home conducted by Rev. Chas. Aitken, Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made at Thurman.
