David Study,the subject of this sketch, came from Nauvoo to Council Bluffs with a colony of Mormons bound for Utah in 1846. Mr. Study left the colony at Council Bluffs and enlisted in the Mexican war served three years and returned to Iowa in 1849, settling near Thurman, where he lived continuously until his death Saturday, September 20.

The funeral services were held at the Leeka. Intement was made in Thurman cemetery. Deceased leaves a wife, two sons and four daughters.
