Funeral services were held in Akron for Mrs. Minerva Emeline Chase Poplin, 94, who died at Westfield in the home of her nephew and niece, Elmer and May Harding. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville.
Mrs. Poplin was born May 29, 1851, in Lee county, Iowa. When she was two years old she moved with her parents to Wayne county, Iowa, where they lived on a farm. From there the family moved west to Fremont county where Mrs. Poplin grew to womanhood and later married James Poplin on September 2, 1870.
After their marriage they farmed a few years, then moved to Colorado where they worked for a railroad construction company. She was employed as cook for the men and her husband drove teams. After making several other moves, they came to Plymouth county in 1880 and bought 80 acres of land. They lived there until 1902 when they moved back to Corydon, la. The couple later moved to Ringgold county where they resided until Mr. Poplin died.
She came to Westfield to live with relatives In February, 1931.
