Helen Jenkins Orton, age 93, of Sidney, Iowa died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Duff's Friendship Villa in Nebraska City, NE following a brief illness.
Helen was born February 18, 1920 in Denver, CO to John Kitchen Henrie and Jessie Mae (Gist) Henrie. In 1945 she was married to Chester Ralph Jenkins,
he preceded her in death in 1967. She married John William Orton in 1976 who preceded her in death in 1985. Helen worked for at time at Pendleton Woolen Mills
in Nebraska City and later at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA as a Nurse's Aide. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Chester Jenkins and John Orton; sister, Hazel Josephine (Henrie) Folkes; brother, Ralph Daniel Henrie; great grandson, Noah Andrew White;
and great great grandson, Jackson Michael Molund. She is survived by her daughter, Delores Kay White and husband Novie of Sidney, IA; 2 sons, James Kelso Jenkins and wife Corlene of Sidney
and Robert Edward Jenkins and wife Mary of Oceanside, CA; step son, Stan Orton of Shenandoah, IA; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces,
nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Private family funeral services will be held at a later time. Public visitation will be open after 5:00 PM Wednesday the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA with the casket
to remain closed. Interment will be in the Sidney, IA Cemetery and, in lieu of flowers, memorials will go to Sidney Fire & Rescue. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA is
in charge of arrangements.
