  SOLOMON HIGGINS, 89, IS DEAD

C. W. Duke Accompanies Relative's Body to Farragut from Colorado.

The remains of Solomon Higgins was taken to Farragut yesterday afternoon on the 2 o'clock train, having been brought from Fort Logan, Colorado, where he died Sunday night. C. W. Duke, with whom he made his home and at whose house Mr. Higgins died, accompanied the body to Farragut. The funeral is set for tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Christian church in Farragut provided the only living child, Mrs. Iva Haley, of Montana, can reach Farragut in time, otherwise it will be postponed until she comes. She is now on the road somewhere.

The deceased was 89 years old and was an old resident of Fremont county. His wife died many years ago and for the last few years, he has been making his home with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Duke, being related to Mr. Duke. He was here and in Clarinda visiting only about six weeks ago.

Sol Higgins' Body Brought Back for Burial at Farragut

Sol Higgins died at the home of his nephew, Clifford Duke, in Denver, Colo., Sunday evening, a stroke of paralysis being the cause of his death. The body was brought back to Farragut for burial and was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Duke. The funeral will be held at the Christian church in Farragut at 2 o'clock this afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. E. E. Lowe.

Mr. Higgins was born in England in 1831 and was 86 years old. His parents moved to America when he was 6 weeks old and located in Iowa City. After living in that city for a number of years, Mr. Higgins moved on a farm in Walnut Creek district west of this city where he lived for about thirty years. He moved back to Iowa City about seven years ago and last year went to Denver, Colo., to live with his nephew, Mr. Duke. His wife died about nine years ago and is buried in the Farragut cemetery. In 1910 he was remarried to Mrs. Fountain of River Junction, Ia. She is now making her home in Lone Tree, Iowa.

Mr. Higgins is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Will Haley of Perry, Mont., and the following grandchildren: Worth and Homer Carl, Roy Higgins, Mrs. Eugene Ripley and his nephew, Clifford Duke.
