Mabel Irene (Yost) Garreans, daughter of Amos and Almyra Yost, was born September 5, 1896, at Goodland, Kansas.
Ernest Lansford Garreans, son of Jacob and Ella Garreans, was born January 13, 1893 at Bartlett, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Garreans died together as a result of an auto accident near Phoenix, Ariz.
They grew up in the Bartlett area where both attended the Pleasant Valley school. Except for two years spent in Hemingford, Nebraska, they farmed in the vicinity of Bartlett all their married life.
On September 9, 1914 they were united in marriage at Omaha, Nebraska. They were the parents of three daughters and five sons. Their children include, Ernest Lyle Garreans of Gardena, Calf.; Marjorie Ayrs who preceded them in death; Ross Leland Garreans of Gardena, Calif.; Aneita Faye Fisher, of Gardena, Calif.; William Ward Garreans of Co. Bluffs, Iowa; Robert Earl Garreans of Gardena, Calif.; Terry Dean Garreans of Bartlett and Ramona Ruth Hickey of Carson, Calif.
Ernest was an active member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge and Mabel was a member of the Pythian sisters and the Friendly Neighbor Birthday Club.
They leave their children; Ernest Lyle, Ross Leland, Aneita Faye Fisher, William Ward, Robert Earl, Terry Dean and Ramona Ruth Hickey; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Mabel leaves three sisters and four brothers while Ernest leaves one sister, two half-sisters, four brothers and one half-brother and other relatives and friends.
They were a close-knit family concerned for the welfare of all.
