Mt. Zion Church Tornado Photos, 1925
Mt Zion Church was hit by a tornado in 1925. These few snapshots were found in a collection of photos held by Frank and Nettie Ruse Bell.
The Bells, who were known affectionately as Mom Bell and Gramp Frank by all their grandchildren, were regular attendees of Mt. Zion Church, during the 1940s. They drove an Model-A car to church on Sundays,
and on the corner of their property stood a small house, appropriately
called the Little House. During the early 1940’s, Brother and Sister Howard, lived in the Little House, as Brother Howard served as the minister at Mt. Zion Church.
By the late 1940s, services were no longer held in the church. Mr. Irwin remembers stopping with his dad, on occasion, and sitting in one of the pews, looking at the hymnals that were still in place.
