The Acord family cemetery was located on land, once belonging to William McKissick, and his wife, Martha Acord. The Acord Family, early pioneers of Fremont County arrived in Austin, March 1840. Prior to 1851, Austin served as Fremont's County seat, then it was relocated to Sidney.

Martha's brother Jacob Acord, and his wife Cynthia Jones, were parents to Greenberry Acord, believed to be the first white child born in Fremont county.
