JANUARY

January, our football boys

Receive their well-earned sweaters;

The Seniors take a roundhouse trip

And study men of letters.

2.   Start new year right.  School.
3.   Kathryn Temby leaves for Charles City.
4.   Visiting Day.  Miss Sarah Jennings spent the day with us.  Number of former high school students review us.  John Spurrier enlists.
5.   The coach of one of girls' basketball divisions was stranded at H. S. with only gymnasium uniform.  She was finally rescued.
7.   Dramatic teacher arrived and -
8.   Many boys wish they had entered the contest.
10.   Cantata practice begins.
11.   Declamatory contest.  Sophomore class won the cup.
14.   Eng. IV classes are trying to decide if Shakespeare told the truth when he said, "There's no art to find the mind's construction in the face."
15.   This would have been a fine afternoon to skate.
16.   Our new system of "supervised study" explained.
17.   First day of "supervised study."  Many changes in program.  Loren Flinn and Helen Hoagland get lost.
18.   Nomal Training exams.
21.   Physics class took a trip to the roundhouse.  Most of us now think we could run an engine.
23.   Four kindergarten girls sing popular songs in various classrooms.
24.   Editorial staff appointed.
25.   Two new sharpeners in assembly.
28.   Miss McDougall has to "brave the cold" home without a coat.  It was locked up without her knowledge.  Ten degrees below.
29.   Prof. gave talk on athletics.  Sweaters presented to sixteen boys.
31.   Tag shovel day.  One boy wore his tag on his foot.  Snow shovel, I suppose.
 

FEBRUARY

February - Seniors sport

Class sweaters purple and gold;

We welcome our new Service Flag,

And "Lyd" upholds our honor old.

1.   "How Germany Prepared for This War," by Mr. Nichols.
4.   Chase can't find out who broke the chair.
5.   Juniors have class party.  Some stayed in the country most of the night.
6.   Might as well go home for dinner.  No more dancing in hall!
7.   Senior boys wearing their class sweaters.
8.   Lydia W. represents P. H. S. at sub-district contest at Stuart.
11.   Lecture on "True Americanism" by Rev. Sheldon.
12.   Calamity befell Senior Typewriting class.  Miss Barnard announced "No more erasing."
13.   Short talk by sailor.  Miss Hinshaw and Miss McKay and have the measles.  Miss Tilton a pink eye and Miss Heighshoe was absent this afternoon.  Who'll O.K. their excuses?
14.   Senior boys have party for the girls.
15.   Rev. Kirkland held devotional meeting.  Mr. Trimby played and sang.  Evald B. took it all in shorthand to the Amen.
18.   Junior Red Cross drive.
19.   Ralph McLuen tells Civics class a demagogue is a teacher.
