SEPTEMBER

September.  The ship P. H. S.

Upon her voyage speeds,

We celebrate with wiener roasts

And watermelon feeds.

3.   The ship P. H. S. has started on another hopeful year's voyage with a cargo of 262 students.
6.   Keep in step.  March played by Lydia Weythman.  Teachers have a welcome picnic.
7.   "Soldier boys" served at Pattee Hotel by ten trusted Senior girls.
9.   "The Lord is my Shepherd" will long be remembered by the girls.
10.   The learn "The Lord is my Shepherd."
11.   Boys do not wish to join their voices with girls'.  Mixed chorus impossible.
13.   Seniors enjoy a wiener roast at home of Irene Bell.  Future history says, "Rex Purviance a slow, sure life saver."
15.   Charles Murphy and Ven Tighe are home on furlough.  They gave patriotic talks to some of the classes.
17.   One hundred enrolled in Glee Club.  Library now open to the public.
18.   The clock has been restored to running order.
19.   Freshmen are trying to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors.  They only desire a wiener roast.
20.   Athletic Association organized.
21.   Big pep meeting!  Alumni game.  Seniors entertain the faculty at a watermelon feast.  Platform for program dangerous.
24.   Illustrated lecture on Hawaii.
25.   Sophomores have a wiener roast.  Stray not into strange pastures.
27.   Girls' Glee have a picnic.
OCTOBER

October, month of Hallowe'en

And teachers' institutes,

Of football games and operas

And contest girl recruits.

5.   Iowa Day program.
9.   Miss Tilton uses ether as last resource to keep order.  Not very successful.
11-12.   No school! for us.  Teachers attending insitute.
17.   Miss Hinshaw takes Music Appreciation class to Des Moines to hear "Faust."
19.   Address by Rev. Sheldon.
22.   Some like to study, others like to stay from 3:10 to 4:00.
23.   Declamatory pieces arrived.
26.   Physics class celebrates Ivy Fanselow's birthday.
27.   Our boys won the game from Jefferson if we didn't have a pep meeting.
28.   Freshman English classes are writing personal descriptions.  One of the girls tries to find out if the Prin.'s hair is naturally curly.
29.   Music for Girls' Glee here at last.
30.   Senior class party at home of Edward S.  All reported a fine time.
31- Nov 1.     We always welcome institute.  Merwin Mathis has too much Hallowe'en for once.
