High quality chairs once were manufactured in great numbers by the ClintonChair Company, which beginning in about 1908, had a plant at 713-715 S. 2nd St.

H. A. Gabriel was the original owner.  However, the plant closed afterbeing in operation a comparatively few years.

Another now almost forgotten factory which once operated in Clinton was theClement Chair Co., operated by a Mr. Munson, and was located at 7th Ave. S. and1st St. It was destroyed by fire.

The blaze was one of the most spectacular in the early history of Clinton, the conflagration being fed by resin and wood in the plant.

Another furniture plant which operated here during the early 1900's was theClinton Furniture Co., located then at 425 12th Ave. S.  The companymanufactured spring beds and jobbed furniture.  C. F. Curtis was president;C. F. Hooks, vice president, and Edwin Ewing, secretary and treasurer.
