Alvin Kosek of Minneapolis, who had been indicted on three charges in connection with the creamery robbery at Monona, plead guilty to the charge of breaking and entering, and he was sentenced to ten years in the reformatory at Anamosa, where he was taken by Sheriff L. J. Palas, Tuesday.

Ransom Meisner and Joe Blodget plead guilty to the charge of assault with the intent to commit manslaughter. Both were given five years in the penitentiary at Fort Madison. Sheriff Palas took them to Fort Madison yesterday to begin their terms.

Joe Kosek, of Minneapolis, bother of Alvin Kosek, plead guilty before Judge T. H. Goheen Monday to his implication in the Monona creamery robbery recently and he was sentenced to ten years in the reformatory at Anamosa. Sheriff L. J. Palas took his prisoner to Anamosa that same afternoon. The elder Kosek was arrested in Marshalltown for local officials when they found him in possession of a "hot car."

C. E. Blaker, 48, McGregor auto salesman, and Edward J. Singer, 23, Dyersville, confessed last Friday evening to the "torture" hold-up of members of the Wiegand family on the Weigand farm near McGregor the evening of March 26th. Both men appeared before Judge T. H. Goheen here Saturday afternoon to plead guilty. Blaker was given a sentence of ten years at Fort Madison and Singer 15 years in the same penitentiary. The men plead guilty to a charge of robbery with aggravation on County Attorney A. H. Borman's information.

The Wiegand's, John Wiegand, 88; his brother Henry, 71, and their sister, Elizabeth, 84, were bound, gagged and robbed of $100 and their automobile, after being threatened with shotguns and with burning with a hot poker.

Alex Solfra, 20, a member of the CCC camp at Lamont, is serving 90 days in the county jail here because he took a car belonging to H. D. Campbell, former county supervisor, without the owner's consent. The car was located near Lamont and by Wednesday Sheriff Palas had picked up two CCC boys and a third was brought in for questioning the next morning. The two arrested with Solfra were Gene Farago, 19, and Phillip Beauchat, 23, both from Oelwein. From the testimony of the latter two it was found that Solfra had taken the car and Monday morning he appeared before Judge W. L. Eichendorf, of McGregor, to enter a plea of guilty to the charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. He is now serving his 90-day sentence as the result of his escapade.

Ray Petsche pled guilty to a charge of assault with intent to commit bodily injury. He was sentenced to serve six months in the county jail

Silas J. Beddow will have to serve six months in the county jail and pay a fine of $500. for his part in the attempted disposition of counterfeit municipal bonds in this county.

Herbert Northrop was sentenced to 20 years in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison for a statutory crime of which he was found guilty at a jury trial.

Four Clayton county men were assessed heavy fines for violation of the game laws in connection with the open season on pheasants near Waverly this week. The four men, A. T. Alderson, A. F. Alderson, Robert Alderson and W. M. Nichols, all of Strawberry Point, were assessed fines totaling $423.93. For having six pheasant hens in the car the fine was $177.59, two quail cost $54.39, one grouse cost $68.78, and because two of the men were without hunting licenses and because they were carrying a gun completely set up in the car, the fine of $123.17 was assessed.
