1904

State vs. Hugh McIver. Defendant plead guilty to assault to inflict great bodily injury and was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail.

State vs. George Hines. Plead guilty to charge of larceny of property valued less than $20. and was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail and fined $25. Property was a ring stolen from Peter Quinn, of Cox Creek, Hines having been in his employ.

State vs. Ole, Brede and Peter Myrengen. Defendants plead guilty to the crime of assault. Peter Myrengen sentenced to 30 days in jail. Ole Myrengen 90 days and Brede Myrengen 6 months in jail. They were charged with assault on E. J. Halverson, of Gunder.

F. J. Smith, who was brought up from Guttenberg, was taken before Judge Hobson at West Union, and was by him sent to the hospital at Independence as an inebriant. Sheriff Dittmer went with him on Saturday.

As a result of the attempted kidnapping of little Hazel Daniels last Thursday, Constable Grube and Harry Potter went to Dubuque Monday and on Tuesday morning arrested George Marshall on the charge of assault and battery on Mrs. Daniels. The case was tried before Justice Fitzpatrick, who fined Marshall $5.00 and costs amounting to $33.53. Marshall appealed the case and was placed under bond for $200. He went to jail and served out the fine and was released yesterday when he left for Dubuque. He gave no bonds for his appeal.

State vs. J. C. Burrington. Defendant appeared and by his attorney plead guilty and waived time for judgement. Adjudged that defendant pay a fine of $20. and costs of prosecution.

State vs. Frank Morehaus, Ray Jackson, Eugene Fosha. Jackson and Fosha plead not guilty of offense charged in indictment. Bond fixed at $500. Morehaus plead guilty, cause continued for judgement.

State vs. Christian Meyer. Defendant plead guilty and it was adjudged that he be fined $50. and costs and committed to jail for one hour.

State vs. John Becker. Defendant was charged with assault with intent to commit rape. After close of the State's testimony, defendant plead guilty to assault and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

State vs. C. Schnepf. Defendant plead guilty and was fined $10. and costs.

State vs. Sam Jennings, Robert Leal and Vernon Blake. Jennings plead guilty and was fined $50. Leal and Blake released for want of evidence to convict.

State vs. Eugene Fosha and Ray Jackson. Jackson discharged for want of evidence. Fosha plead guilty to crime of larceny and was fined $15. Property taken restored to owner, Reinhart Haberichter.

1905

State vs Seven Olson. Defendant indicted by the grand jury and plead guilty to the charge of lewdness. Sentenced to four months in the county jail.

Richard Wright and Wm. Randall, indicted for breaking into a railway car, plead guilty and were given six months in the penitentiary.

M. Monahan plead guilty to the indictment and was sentenced to four months in jail. Elmer Coonfare also plead guilty and was sent to the county jail with hard labor until March 1, 1906.
