On Friday Judge Hobson dealt out the various sentences. Kellison and Evans were each sentenced to a year in the Clayton county jail. The judge gave the boys a very impressive talk on their offense and handed them the maximum penalty under the verdict. Evans asked to be committed to the Waukon but it was out of the power of the judge to do that.

Siebert Oleson, who plead guilty to the charge of assault and battery was given 30 days in which to become acquainted with the county stronghold.

Hugh McIver, who plead guilty to the charge of obtaining money on false pretenses, was given six months at Anamosa.

Mike Adams of Colesburg, created a disturbance in Gifford's hotel Saturday evening and got in a fight with Prof. Robinson. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Adams and the case tried before Squire Costigan Monday. It was a red hot law suit. The defendant was found guilty and fined $5 and costs of suit.

Twenty days in jail was what Judge Schnepf gave Bert Smith Monday on account of disorderly conduct. If our officers would all do likewise and impose a heavy fine on all offenders a lot of this rowdyism would be stopped. Good for Schneph.
