John Lambie & his wife Jane (Bryson) Lambie
John Lambie and Jane Kere Bryson were married at Monona, Clayton co., Iowa on 28 Nov. 1851. Jane was the daughter of James and Margaret (Scott) Bryson of Allamakee co. IA. The couple took up residence at Clayton City, where they boarded wood-choppers and John had full charge of the Clayton ferry boat. The John Lambie family (2 males, one of voting age; and 2 females) is enumerated in Clayton township on the 1854 Iowa State census.
The record of births and deaths in the "History of the Scott and Bryson Families" shows the following children born and those who died while John and Jane were living in Clayton City:
Elizabeth M. Lambie, born 16 Apr. 1853, died 16 Oct. 1856
Mary McRone Lambie, born 1 Nov. 1855
infant son Lambie, born and died 1 Jan. 1857
Elizabeth Miller Lambie, born 22 May 1859
Margaret Scott Lambie, born 13 Sept. 1861
Burial places of Elizabeth and the infant son are not given, they possibly are buried in the Clayton cemetery.
John & Jane, with their surviving children began their journey overland to California in the spring of 1862, arriving in the fall of 1862. The settled on a half-section of land near Bird's Landing, Solano co., postoffice at Denverton, Solano co., California. Five additional children were born to them at Denverton. The family became well-to-do and highly honored and respected.

Of John Lambie's parents and siblings, I have very limited information. I will gladly share what I have on these families with others."
