WILLIAM GETSCH / HELEN DEXTER

Nashua Reporter
7 June 1900, page 1

Last evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Dexter, witnessed by about fifty of the relatives and admiring friends, occurred the marriage of Miss Helen Dexter to William F. Getsch. Rev. M. Barrett officiating.

The spacious home was beautifully decorated with ferns and smilax, while here and there are bouquets of roses and carnations, and the guests, dressed in their prettiest costumes, added further beauty to the scene. At the hour of 8 Mrs. C. L. Johnson sat down at the piano and played the wedding march, to the time of which the bridal party descended the stairs and took their stations in the middle parlor. The party was led by little Neve Johnson and Helen Skinner, after which time Miss Marie Dexter bearing the bouquet of bride's roses and ring. Arriving at the bow window she untied the ribbons which inclosed it, allowing the bride and groom to take their stations under a large horseshoe of roses. The fair one was dressed in a white swiss costume and wore a bridal veil, while the groom was dress in perfect fitting suit of black. After the impressive words were spoken when henceforth bound their lives together, formality gradually gave way to mirth and joy as the guest hurried forward to offer their congratulations and well wishes to the happy pair. Someone about this time produced a present, which, while it might not have been as beautiful or valuable as many of the great array of presents, still it was useful and furnished no end of amusement. It was a cradle of necessities, containing everything imaginable that a young married couple might find desirable in housekeeping, and was the contribution of several. An elaborate menu was then served on a number of small tables, each one daintily decorated with pink and white carnations.

Mr. and Mrs. Getsch took the early train this morning for Chicago, where they will spend ten days seeing the sights and enjoying themselves generally. On their return they will commence housekeeping in the home provided by the young husband, in the northwest part of town, that stands waiting to receive them. Both parties to this union are well known to the people of Nashua, having grown up from childhood among us. The good wishes of all are with them.
