Formation
Cedar Township was constituted September 6, 1869, comprising all of congressional township 93-40. It is situated in the northern tier of townships, the second from the eastern line of the county.

Geographical
Cedar Township covers an area of 36.24 square miles (93.9 km2) and contains one incorporated settlement, Larrabee.
