Carol Ahlers is Bride at Granville Monday of Isidore Pottebaum

Granville Special - St. Joseph Catholic church, Granville, was the scene of the marriage of Carol Ahlers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ahlers, of Granville, and Isidore Pottebaum of Cherokee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Pottebaum of Alton, Monday morning, Oct. 13, at 9 o'clock. Rev. J. J. Dalhoff performed the double ring ceremony and read the nuptial mass in the presence of many relatives and friends, assisted by the high school choir. Sister M. Marian, at the organ, sang Heart of Jesus and On This Day O Beautiful Mather.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of shiffon taffeta and rose point lace, designed with princess lines. The bodice featured a yoke of lace with sweetheart neckline embroidered in iridescents and seed pearls and long tapered sleeves. The flat princess panel of the bouffant floor-length skirt was accented at the sides by pamnieras. Appliques of sequins and pearls on lace were scattered over the skirt and train, which was chapel length. Her fingertip veil of imported silk illusion fell from a pill box of lace trimmed with sequin and pearl embroidery. She carried a bouquet of white, yellow and rust mums, centered with a mum corsage.
The bride was attended by Mary Ann and Donna Rae Pottebaum. They were gowned in emerald green satin, styled with elongated bodices, bateau necklines and brief sleeves. The bouffant ballerina-length skirts were accented by back bows at the waistline. They wore matching veiled shell hats of velveteen .
The bride is a graduate of St. Joseph high school. Granville. and the past year was employed at J. R. Nylan Co. in Granville. The bridegroom is graduate of St. Mary's Alton, attended barber college and operates a shop in Cherokee, where the couple will reside following a wedding trip to Denver and other points west.
Relatives and friends from away, besides the immediate families, were Rev. Carl Hansen, Emma Hodapp of Mary Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Felix Streff, Mr and Mrs. Sylvester Minten, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Haupert, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pick, Frank Pottebaum, all of Alton.
