MASON CITY — The Kinney Pioneer Museum will open for the season on Sunday, May 1, with its annual Conestoga Barbecue Pork Day. Serving is from noon to 4 p.m. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, homemade potato salad, baked beans, dessert and beverage. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12, and includes museum admission. The broom makers, blacksmith and rug weaver will be on hand, creating something new. The museum a taste of Iowa frontier life through the vintage exhibits and living history at the museum. A pioneer village with a one-room school house, log cabin, old jail and blacksmith shop are included. The museum is located seven miles west of Mason City at the entrance of the Mason City Airport. NOTE: The Kinney Pioneer Museum is open May through September of each year. Hours of operation are 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Tuesday through Sunday. Special arrangements can be made for other times.
