521 N. Washington Ave., Mason City IA
Fredrick "Fred" Lippert (1865-1945) was a prominent builder in the Mason City vicinity. It is presumed that Lippert collaborated with Einar
Broaten, Mason City architect, in the design and constrution of his own home. It was designed in the Prairie School
of architecture and was built in 1914. The front living room features a bricked wood burning fireplace,
a built-in bookcase, beamed ceilings and French doors which open into a 4-season sunroom.
A duplicate of the Lippert house was built at 402 First
Avenue SE, West Bend, Iowa, in 1916.
Fred was married to Caroline J. Blein (1871-1956). Fred and Caroline were interred at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery,
Mason City. According to a listing in 2012, there were only two owners of the Lippert house.
The Fred Lippert House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 29, 1980.
