Directions: Take 290th St. (F44) east of West Branch to county road Garfield Avenue (X40). Turn left on Garfield Avenue.
Go one mile to 280th St., turn right. It is a little more than one mile down that road.

My great-grandparents used to live across the road from this cemetery. An interesting item to know about that particular cemetery is that all of the headstones are on the East side of the cemetery. The west side is completely empty. Empty of headstones, but not graves. There is a local story that has been passed down that it was in this part of the cemetery that slaves traveling the underground railroad were buried (if you were not aware of the Underground Railroad through Cedar County, there is a lot of info online, just Google it). A few years ago there was even an archaeological study done to see if there was truth to the story. It's all fenced in, but feels like it is half-empty. The entire thing is mowed, making it eerier.
