Cedar County, Iowa Centerville Cemetery Sugar Creek Township

The oldest marked Cedar County grave is that of Sydny Morgan, who died in 1837. Her stone, and that of her husband, Jonathan Morgan who died in 1863, are located on Lonely Ridge on the Hib and Hub Whitmer farm about three miles northeast of Rochester. Near the site was an early town named Centerville, now abandoned. The graves were restored in 1996 by the Cedar County Historical Society.
