Photo / Caption - In 1910 Joe Schroeder was severely burned when a steam engine he was driving broke through a bridge. Skin grafting was necessary and the Arcadia people responded to the call. Nearly one hundred people offered to donate skin. Eighty operations were performed and Joe recovered.

Labor Day Celebrations

Arcadia has often had Labor Day Celebrations which were sponsored by the Ehlers Gerken Post 694 American Legion and the Arcadia Fire Department. They have usually been two day affairs starting on Sunday afternoon with a Kiddie Parade. Almost everyone in the area, young and old alike, took their turns working in the stands.
