Martha Louise (Howard) BOHNETT TROUT

December 17, 1862 ---- March 5, 1943

Martha Louise Howard – Trout was born December 17, 1862. The child of a family of eight children of James and Sarah Howard of Delavan, Ill., Tazewell county. Died at her home in Clarion March 5, 1943, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 18 days. At the age of 15 years her mother passed away to her Heavenly home, leaving the family to mourn the loss of a Christian mother. The father then asked Martha if she would try and keep the family together. She replied, "that she would do her best in keeping the family together, and assume the responsibility of the family home until the family were grown"; that promise she made good. Mrs. Trout at the early age of eight was converted and two years later united with the church of her choice, namely the Methodist church of which she was a faithful and devoted member for 70 years, when she joined the church invisible, in her passing March 5, 1943. Her faith and her courage were extraordinary, even in the midst of suffering. She was united in marriage

December 31, 1891, to Martin Bohnett of Rantoul, Ill., coming to Clarion, Wright county, in February, 1891. After the passing of her first husband, Martin Bohnett in 1914, she was united in marriage on September 16, 1921, to Ezra E. Trout of Portland, Ind. On May 4, 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Trout returned to Clarion to reside in the community Mrs. Trout loved so much, where she spent 52 years of her earthly life. Her home was her chief interest, to be a kind neighbor and share a kindly spirit of neighborliness was her chief joy. She was a member of the Adah chapter Order of the Eastern Star, in which she took great interest and delight; member of the D.AR. Her greatest delight was sharing and helping others ; her faith in her Heavenly Father was her comfort and joy in life.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted and grief-stricken husband; one brother, Cassius P. Howard of Rapid City, S. D.; one sister, Mrs. Wm. Schuder of Estherville; 12 nieces, 6 nephews, other relatives and friends.
