I just followed some information I was given this summer by the Belmond, Iowa, historical society and found several of you also looking for pieces of my family. My grandmother was Mary Saatoff Pals. She was the second child born to Reint R. Saatoff and Margaret Ruiter. Her older brother was Jaala Saatoff. I have never heard that the Saatoffs were at one time Stoppelmoors so I am finding this very interesting. I have a newspaper article from the Belmond Herald that I will post. It says that Reint was born in Ostfriesland, Germany and emigrated in 1872. He and Margaret are buried in the Belmond cemetery.
