This John Mellgren reported in 1918 (WWI Draft Registration Card) that he was born 13 August 1873. In 1825 he or someone else reported to the census taker that his father was Swen Mellgren, born in Sweden and his mother was Helen B. Arstad, born in Norway. His wife was Lena J. Larson Mellgren. This John Mellgren apparently died November 15, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota (Hennepin County). He and Lena were in the 1950 Minneapolis City Directory (Ancestry.com). He lived in Eagle Grove for many years, so there are several census records for him, sometimes with the surname misspelled. He was on the 1895 Iowa census in Eagle Grove, age 21 and single at the time. Lena Larson was also in Eagle Grove then.
