FLORENCE GREENWOOD

Florence Elizabeth Strubel was born on August 23, 1903, the daughter of George and Nora Wagoner Strubel, at Britt, Iowa. She attended rural school near Britt and the O.D.D. Fellows Children's Home, Mason City, Iowa.

She was employed at Long Beach, Calif, in the military defense plant during World War II.

Florence was united in marriage to Henry A. Greenwood of Los Angeles, Calif., on Feb. 8, 1947 at Safford, Ariz. The couple made their home in Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Henry died in 1983 and Florence entered the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, Eagle Grove, Iowa in October of 1989. She died there on May 6, 1992 at the age of 88 years, eight months, and 13 days.

She leaves in passing her nieces: Gwendolyn (Mrs. Lyle) Amonson of Eagle Grove, and Eunice Decker of Ripon, Calif, and nephews: Bruce Yarger, Atlantic, Iowa; Larry Yarger, Bedford, England; and Dennis Yarger, Wichita, Kan.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Cecil Strubel and infant Evan, and a sister, Marie Yarger-Rench.

She was a life member of the Clarion, Iowa V.F.W. auxiliary and the Order of the Elks.

Funeral services for Florence Elizabeth Greenwood were held on Saturday, May 9, 1992 at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. The Reverend Scott C. Hall officiated at the 10 a.m. services and burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge.
