Edd Luppen, son of Peter and Della Jans Luppen, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 1984, at the Belmond Community Hospital. He was born May 11, 1892, in Ackley, and was 91 years old. With his parents, he moved to Kanawha at an early age and had lived most of his life in this area. He was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church and had served on many of the church boards. He attended the Hancock County rural schools. He married Christena Nieman on January 24, 1923, at the home of her parents, Albert and Eva Nieman. He had farmed in the Kanawha area for many years, retiring in 1958, moving to his home in Kanawha where he has been a resident since that time. He has lived at the Kanawha Community Home for the past 3 years. He served his country in World War I from 1917, was discharged in 1918 and earned the Purple Heart. His life centered around his family, he enjoyed farming and helping around the farm after his retirement.
