Mrs. Edd (Christena) Luppen, daughter of Albert and Eva Nieman, passed away at the Belmond Community Hospital Friday morning, February 18, 1972, following a short illness. She had been a patient at the hospital for 3 weeks. She was born April 5, 1900, at Kanawha, Iowa, and was 71 years, 10 months, 13 days at death.
She was married to Edd Luppen on January 24, 1923, at the home of her parents and had been a resident of Hancock County all her life. For the last 14 years after retiring, she had been a resident of Kanawha, Iowa. She received her education in the rural schools of Hancock County, was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Kanawha and a member of the Ladies Aid of the Church.
Tena was survived by her husband and family, four brothers, Casper, Ed and Martin, all of Britt, Iowa; John of Kanawha; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Blank of Kanawha, and Mrs. John (Jennie) Eekhoff of Britt; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Marjorie Ellice, in infancy in 1934.
Funeral services were held February 21, 1972, at Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Marvin Van Donselaar officiating. Burial was in Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha, Iowa.
