October 15, 1908 ---- July 31, 2000

Donald E. Carson, 91, Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Dahl Van Hove-Schoof Funeral home in Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established.

Donald Carson was born Oct. 15, 1908 at Kamrar, the son of George and Bessie (Bergman) Carson. He married Ruth E. Johnson in Des Moines in 1944. He was a teacher in New Hartford for nine years, postmaster and a rural mail carrier for many years. He also was a magistrate in Butler County for several years. He served in WW II as a Lieutenant Sr. Grade in the Navy Air Force. He received a BA from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Consistory of Shriners, a member of the National Rural carriers, a 60 year member of Beaver Lodge # 472 AF & AM at New Hartford. He was also a more than 50 year member of the Cedar Falls, Iowa OES #78.

He is survived by two sisters, Alyce Bottorff, Webster City, Doris Hackley, Sunnyvale, CA, and several nephews and nieces including Richard Bottorff, Kingston, WA, Don Bottorff, Webster City, and Marilyn Taylor, Shell Rock. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, two brothers, Harry and Marion Carson and two sisters Marie Niemeyer and Dorothy Carson, and one nephew, Daryl Bottorff.
