Van Buskirk Rites Held on Saturday.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the EUB church for Loyd Van Buskirk, 57, who took his own life two days earlier. According to Kenneth F. Boughton, Hancock county coroner, the Goodell farmer killed himself with a shotgun blast. Mr. Van Buskirk had been in poor health and his act was attributed to depression caused by the illness. Rev. Park E. Miller conducted the final rites and burial was in Amsterdam. Fulton Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were Ed Haupt, Nels Bock, Harry Ruka, Amos Hanson, Walter Lauden and Howard Dominy.

Born August 3, 1896, son of Harrison and Sarah Van Buskirk, at Blairsburg, the deceased was a long-time resident of the Goodell vicinity. His parents moved to Hickory Grove neighborhood in 1910. He wed Annie Brass on June 30, 1920, and 11 children were born to them. For many years they have operated the family farm a mile north and one and a half west of Goodell. Mr. Van Buskirk followed the occupation of farming without interruption except for a period of military service during World War I.

Surviving are Mrs. Van Buskirk and the following children: Owen and Earl of Brownsville, Minn.; Mrs. Ray Yager of Tonawanda, N.Y., Mrs. Richard Finn of Dexter, Minn., Mrs. Richard Lauen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Gerald at home, Mrs. Loren Mennenga of Meservey; Harriet - a student at the state school for the deaf at Council Bluffs; Faye a student at Hamilton Business college, Mason City; and Ina, a Kanawha High School student.
