November 26, 1936 ---- November 14, 2014

Alice Marie Giesking was born November 26, 1936, in Belmond, Iowa, to Arthur and Josie (Jackson) Meyer. Alice graduated from Norway Township Country School and went on to receive her teaching degree from the United States Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Alice was teaching in Titonka when she met Merle, and on June 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Merle G. Giesking at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Titonka. After starting their family, Alice started working alongside Merle at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa, and they retired together in 1997 after more than 50 years of combined service.

Alice's interests included sewing, counted cross stitch, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She and Merle enjoyed traveling the U.S. They made many trips to Florida to see their sons and grandchildren and attended many NASCAR races, sporting events, and antique shows. Alice considered their trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, to see the Winter Olympics her best trip ever. Alice also enjoyed playing 500 with her card club friends. She loved living in a small town, and truly enjoyed talking with people, especially her previous students. Her faith and church were important to her and a highlight every year for her was the children's Christmas Eve program.

Alice Marie Giesking, of Titonka, Iowa, died Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Titonka Care Center at the age of 77. She is survived by her son, Bruce Giesking and wife Pam of Tampa, Florida, daughter, Lori Cink and husband Tom of Wesley, Iowa, and son Scott Giesking and wife Priscilla of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Michael, Vanessa, Chad, Adam, Jessica, McKaila, Milly, Mathias and Arthur "AJ"; great grandchildren, Rilee, Jenna Alicé, Angelina and Jayden; brother Jerry Meyer and wife Sandra; sister Norma Renn; brother-in-law Carl "Butch" Giesking and wife Dorothy; sisters-in-law, Leona Schmidt and Clara Mayland; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Merle Giesking.
