Ronette D. Carnall, 66, of Arlington, Iowa died after a tough battle with cancer on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2014 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Chaplain Greg Boyle officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Will be at a later date in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Ronette DeRae Yarger was born May 14, 1947 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald Allison and Bette DeRae (Engle) Yarger. She graduated from Storm Lake High School and later received her BA from Buena Vista University and her MA from the University of Northern Iowa. On July 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to Douglass Carnall at Backbone State Park in Strawberry Point. They later divorced. Ronette taught at Starmont Community School District for 43 years, where she coached contest speech, directed plays and enjoyed working wrestling and track meets. She also taught local community college classes. She was active in the Arlington Community Club, City Council and enjoyed the six corners beautification project. Ronette was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church where she taught Bible School, Sunday School and served as finance chair, staff pastor parish chair and ad council chair.

Ronette is survived by her daughters, Thais Carnall (Steve Gloeckner) of Cedar Rapids and Ciar Carnall (Scott Boyle) of Clear Lake; granddaughter, Harper Boyle of Clear Lake; sister, Allyson (Larry) Eliason of Kanawha; niece, Tara (Scott) Sobek of Kanawha; great niece, Cooper Sobek of Kanawha; paternal aunt, Gwen (Lyle) Amonson of Eagle Grove; paternal uncle, Larry Yarger of London, England; aunt, Clarice (Dean) Yarger of San Diego, California; father-in-law, Charley Daisy of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Twyla Scherbring of Oelwein; nieces, Missy Funderburk and Kate Johnson of Davenport; and a nephew, Matt Scherbring of Hiawatha. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Elsie Towns; paternal grandparents; Luther and Agnes Yarger; parents; mother-in-law, Shirley Daisy; and an uncle, Eldon “Bud” Engle.
