Myrna Leone (Nelson) Harrison, age 92 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Maplewood of Sauk Prairie Nursing Home in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Memorial funeral services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 322 Unity Drive, Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.

Myrna was born May 18, 1921 in Eagle Grove, Iowa the daughter of David W. Nelson and Elsie (Foss) Nelson. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in the class of 1939. On November 2, 1940 she married Chester J. Harrison in San Diego, California. While living in California she spent most of her time as a mom and homemaker, but she also worked at a drive-in restaurant and it was a favorite family story that she wore a grass skirt car hopping. In 1954 Chet and Myrna moved back to Wisconsin Dells to be closer to their families. She spent summers working for Stewart and Iness Thompson at their restaurant and their family was very special to her. In 1970 Chet and Myrna moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she worked at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Two years later they moved to Plymouth, Wisconsin where she worked 10 years for GTE in telephone sales. In 1987 they both retired and came back to their home in Wisconsin Dells. Myrna loved reading books and doing crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with the Nelson and Harrison families.

Myrna is survived by her son, Chester J. (Kathleen) Harrison of Eagan, MN; a daughter, Victoria (H. Dean) Edgington of Wisconsin Dells and a son-in-law Donald L. Jones of Amissville, VA; grandchildren, Courtney (Patrick) Poland of Midland, VA, Camila (John) Corn of Chula Vista, CA, Kaarin (Michael) Gust of Renton, WA, C. J. (Hilde) Harrison of Lakeville, MN, Kensia Harrison of Eagan, MN, Gregory Edgington of Orlando, FL, Russell Edgington of Poynette, WI and great-grandchildren, Crockett and Forrest Poland, Shenandoah Corn, Annika, Christina and Jenna Harrison, Logan and Alyssa Gust and Mason Harrison. Further survived by brothers, Todd (Farlene) Nelson and Jack (Shirley) Nelson both of Wisconsin Dells and sisters, Shirlee (Dick) Meister of Wisconsin Dells and Ardith Stecky of Kenosha, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chet; her daughter, Valerie Jones; brothers, Joe and David and sisters, Leah Ming and Betty Wheatman. The family offers special thanks to Meadow View Memory Care for the loving care given to Myrna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Holy Cross Episcopal Church or a charity of one’s choice.
