Marie Nuehring, 94, of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Klemme, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the care center. Funeral service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Reformed UCC Church, Klemme. Burial: Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements by Andrews Funeral Home, Klemme.

Survivors include a son, Darryl and wife Leslie of Oskaloosa; daughter-in-law, Lynette (Harley) Nuehring of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Cindy Weil and husband David of Englewood, Colo.; daughter, Joyce Kelly-Lapides of Castle Rock, Colo.; eight grandchildren, including Corey and wife Michelle Nuehring of Marion; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be directed c/o the family at P.O. Box 224, Belmond, IA 50421. The family would like to thank the Hiawatha Care Center staff and Dr. Mary Anne Nelson for their wonderful care!

KLEMME — Marie Nuehring, age 94, of Klemme, Iowa, most recently a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa, died Sept. 12, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. The Rev. Donna Buckman will be officiating. Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be today, Saturday, Sept. 14, from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Andrews Funeral Home, 528 E. Main St., Klemme, and will continue one hour prior to the services at church Sunday. Memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.

Marie Meinders was born Feb. 5, 1919, near Buffalo Center, Iowa, on the Meinders family farm home, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (Reikens) Meinders. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ramsey Reformed Church, near Titonka, Iowa. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She continued to help with various farm and household duties until she met Earl W. Nuehring. The couple was united in marriage on March 6, 1941, at the Ramsey Reformed Church. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Klemme. Marie became a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ located in Klemme shortly after their marriage.

In her pastime, Marie enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, camping, reading novels and writing about her life experiences while raising four children on the Nuehring family Century Farm spanning 25 plus years. In 1968, Earl and Marie built their dream home in Klemme. Marie and Earl also spent their winter months in Weslaco, Texas, at Pine to Palm Trailer Park for over 25 years. In the spring of 1996, Marie moved to the Prairie View Retirement Apartments and continued to reside their until moving to the Concord Care Nursing Home, Garner, Iowa, in August 2006. In order to reside closer to family, Marie moved to Hiawatha Care Center near Cedar Rapids in September, 2011.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Nuehring; one son, Harley Nuehring; a great-grandson, Christopher Gowan-Nuehring, her parents, Henry and Nellie Meinders; brothers, Dick and Alvin Meinders; sister, Iola Steffensen; sisters-in-law, Catherine Meinders and Maxine Meinders. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Darryl Nuehring and wife Leslie of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harley (Lynette) Nuehring of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughter, Cindy Weil and husband, David of Englewood, Colo.; and daughter, Joyce Kelly-Lapides and husband, Michael of Castle Rock, Colo. Also, Marie is survived by eight grandchildren, Mark (Margaret) Nuehring of Rochester, Minn.; Brian Nuehring of St. Peter’s, Mo.; Corey (Michelle) Nuehring of Marion, Iowa; Tarah (Tom) Kuna of Castle Pines, Colo.; Nicole Gugliardo of One Tree, Colo.; Taylor Kelly of Castle Rock, Colo.; and Whitney and Camryn Weil of Englewood, Colo. Marie is also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Alex, Julia, and Ryan Gowan-Nuehring; Jade, Madeleine and Hunter Nuehring, Caitlyn, Cole, and Claire Nuehring, Keller, Avery, and Asher Kuna, and Mia Gugliardo. Additional survivors in the Buffalo Center and Mason City areas include Marie’s brothers, William and wife Gertrude Meinders and Jim Meinders of Buffalo Center; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvin (Johanna) Meinders, also of Buffalo Center; a brother-in-law, Harland and wife, Ione Nuehring of Mason City; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Rink, also of Mason City.
